Take your grief with you

This statement above was on the inside page of my leaflet from Mary Mount University Hospital & Hospice, Curraheen, County Cork. This greeted me in my post pile upon my return home from Ballinspittle,Co Cork, Ireland on the 1st May 2020 with my Mothers ashes.

The younger me would have stopped this blog/challenge here and now and just closed the door and used the excuse of her passing a reason to just leave it be. Fortunately I am now 50 and my older self does not agree.

Now 6 months in after her passing I know she would definitely of wanted us all (however sad and painful) to move forward and remember the good times.

“Always finish what you started” was one of her favorite sayings.

I know she would not want her passing to be the main topic of this blog, but to not mention the loss of the woman who from birth did everything for me and sacrificed so much, would be so wrong and sad.

To my mum and to who I owe so much, I dedicate the rest of this 50K challenge - I just wish she was still here to see it complete.

RIP My Mammy - Joan (Annie) Leuenberger-Ahern
