Challenges ahead

Before I fill you in with my challenges so far, I want to say thank you to all of you who took the time to read and comment on my blog launch via Facebook, and even more so to those that are back here ready to read my next post.

I was overwhelmed with all the likes and comments from everyone. I really wasn't looking for praise, but just to get the blog out there and to start the journey by telling the story which I mentioned in first post.

The pressure is on to keep things interesting, but I'm ready to accept the challenge! I know to some it may seem a little silly as there are bigger things going on in the world right now - especially after last Mondays tragedy in Manchester, but the least I can do is rise to my challenge. I want to do all I can to get those pennies raised and hopefully meet the £50k goal.

The very next day from my first post I got on with typing out my list from my note book to iPad. To all who have committed to helping with my challenges so far, thank you! The first thirty something are set and you can read all about them in this post, keep an eye out for updates.

I'm already in month 4 and the challenges that I can do by watching YouTube videos, reading books and learning from close family have been going on for a while now. I'm loving every minute. It's no stress and it's a great thing to focus on!

There are some challenges that will probably take a good chunk of the 50 months especially the weight loss, running and cycling but there are hopefully quite a few that will just take a month start to finish 🙏. There's no particular order to the list, I'll be ticking things off as often as I can.

The other news I'd like to share today is the charity link and the discussions I've been having around fundraising.

After speaking to a lovely lady at The Royal Marsden fundraising department, I'm feeling quite positive about it all. Long story short, she's sent my blog over to their social media department. She seemed to think there's something they can do to help set up a direct account so there's no middle man. These web fundraising sites are great and I've used them in the past, however for this amount of money I would like to maximise the amount of money that goes to charity.

When I told the lady at The Royal Marsden how much I would like to raise she was delighted and asked if there was a specific area I would like the donation to go to to. After much deliberation I think it would be best to spilt it between both research and treatment (medicine to assist patients who are going through cancer right now). I'm not sure on the outcome of how they can help yet, but apart from being a little bit nervous of putting my self out there beyond my Facebook friends - I am quite excited.

No challenges tonight but off for a walk/jog in the morning to assess how much time and effort I'm going to half to put in to challenge number 2.

Until then enjoy hope you all enjoy your Saturday evening with the joy of knowing you won't have the Sunday blues!

P.S. - As for picture of the two marathon numbers, this is the part of entering a race I really loved. Getting my number in the post for an up and coming race, it made all the training seem worth while. Let's hope I feel the same way a year or two from now!!
